GEORGIA WOODWARD

Georgia Woodward is this month’s Point Break Drama actor of the moment. At just 18 years of age, Georgia’s talent and dedication belie her age. She is making inroads by impressing industry types with her hard work and dedication to the craft of acting.

Georgia Woodward started taking acting classes at eight years of age at Plie Groove n, Shuffle school of performing arts – a local performing arts centre on the Northern Beaches. It was here she discovered her love and passion for performing. During her time at the school she learnt Jazz, tap, ballet, modern and contemporary dance as well as acting for the theatre. At PGNS Georgia performed at Sydney’s Wonderland and various theatres and institutions around Sydney and in 2007 she travelled to the USA to dance at Disneyland. At the age of ten she became a member of the Australian Youth Drama, where she broadened her knowledge and skills of the acting craft, and was provided the opportunity to perform at ABC studios.

Georgia was encouraged by tutors to join talent agencies to gain experience in front of the camera and work actively within the entertainment industry. Being a part of two agencies Georgia appeared in a number of advertisements for children’s cordial and pop tart commercials to be aired in the USA.

In was in 2006 that Georgia Woodward started taking acting more seriously - she joined the Point Break Drama Acting School. Georgia has trained in theatre performance, acting technique & auditioning and acting for the camera at Point Break Drama. She has been fortunate enough to be a part of several performances each year at the school. These performances ranged from comedic scene work, Shakespeare, English Sketch comedy and dramatic monologues. For three consecutive years, 2007 to 2009, Georgia was voted, “The most committed and hardworking actor” & “The most outstanding actor of the year” by her peers at the school.

When asked about her time Point Break Drama Georgia says,

“The school has provided me with a deep understanding of performing and the art of acting and stage-craft. During my many years at the school I have been truly blessed to be able to exercise my skills in a supportive and creatively stimulating environment. The actors and tutors I have been lucky enough to have worked with have provided me with the confidence, skills and knowledge that allow me to walk into any acting class or performance with the capability to perform truthfully and with composure”.

In 2008 Georgia took part in various open theatre and film acting courses at The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). She was recommended by her tutor to audition for The Young Actors Studio – an advanced acting intensive part time course at NIDA. She applied and was successful in the audition process. During the Young Actors Studio she was trained in musical theatre, film and theatre acting, in 2009 she graduated from the course and landed the lead role in the end of year production “The Event” to be performed in NIDA’s Playhouse theatre. Georgia’s goal in 2010 is to be selected into full time course at NIDA or at The Actors centre in Sydney.

Georgia continues to work at her craft still by taking classes in Point Break Drama’s advanced acting courses.

Georgia comments,

“Acting is all I have ever wanted to do, and I have been so lucky to have been taught so much by some excellent tutors at Point Break Drama. All of my current achievements are because of the training I received Point Break drama. Paul Winchester and all of the tutors at the school have been extremely supportive of me and encouraged me to what I love and to do it well”.

At just 18 years of age Georgia Woodward shows the passion, drive and talent to succeed in the toughest industry in the world. Break a leg Georgia!
