Scholarship deadline for 2012 applications has now passed.

Point Break Drama Acting School’s Scholarship program for kids & Teens (7-16yrs), offers students the opportunity to learn acting technique from professional actors on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Point Break Drama prides itself on high standards of its students and the quality of tuition it provides. Point Break Drama Acting School is one of the most highly regarded schools in Sydney, offering short acting courses for Kids, Youth & adults.

The Scholarship’s aim is to recognise an individual’s out-standing talent, giving them the capacity to continue training.

Ever since I received the scholarship, I’ve been able to both explore my drama further, as well as ease  financial pressure on my family. This has given me the oppurtunity to look at spreading my interests in the advanced acting program, as well as pursuing singing and dancing oppurtinuties.

In 2010 my son Finlay became the recipient of the Scholarship for 2011 at Point Break. Although he had previously attended another drama school Finlay has made so much progress. He has learnt valuable techniques, and every week he comes out of class with a huge smile and eager to talk about what he did in class. He is more confident and always stimulated by what the teachers challenge him with. Very Happy. So a big thankyou to Adam and Paul at Point Break.

Over the two terms that I’ve attended the school I have learnt how to audition to camera, improvise, be selfless on the stage, make creative offers, not to block an offer and to have confidence in myself and my fellow actors…. I have had so much fun, learnt more than I could’ve ever dreamed and made such amazing friends.

DETAILS OF SCHOLARSHIP

  • The Acting scholarship is open to Teens & kids(7-16yrs) only, and offers students one full school year of part-time acting tuition in a chosen course at Point Break Drama.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to an individual who demonstrates outstanding talent in an audition situation.
  • Application Deadline is November 15th 2011.
  • The first round of auditions will take place on Mon 28th November 2011. If  applicant receives a call-back they will be required the following Monday 5th December.
  • Anybody in the applicable age range may apply. No experience necessary to audition.
  • Three full year scholarships will be offered in total. The first scholarship will be for the 7-9 age bracket. The second scholarship will be for the 10-13 age bracket and the third scholarship for the 14-16 age bracket.
  • An acting scholarship at Point Break Drama entitles the lucky recipient to take four full terms of either Teen acting, Teen screen acting or child acting 2012 only.
  • Successful candidates can choose from one of the following – Teen acting runs on three separate afternoons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 4pm – 6pm. Teen screen acting Tuesday afternoons from 4.00pm – 6pm. Child acting runs on Thursday afternoons only from 4pm-6pm.
  • Successful applicants will choose one day only under scholarship.
  • Scholarships will be adjudicated by an independant judge who has industry experience.

 

Conditions for Point Break Drama Scholarship 2012.

  1. Point Break’s decision will be final.
  2. Applications shall not be accepted after November 15th, 2011.
  3. Scholarships are open to Children & Youth aged 7 to 16 years of age only.
  4. No experience necessary to audition.
  5. Point Break Drama is not liable for providing acting course/s should the school cease trading.
  6. Successful applicants, runner-ups and other applicants may not trade in an acting course for money.
  7. Scholarship courses can only be taken by the successful candidate in 2012.
  8. Successful Candidates and runner-ups must attend 75% of classes.
  9. Successful applicants must set high standards of behaviour.
  10. Successful applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of achievement while on the scholarship program.
  11. The Point Break Drama acting Scholarship only applies to the course run in the official school term. The scholarship does not include holiday courses, casting workshops or private tuition.
  12. Successful Candidates are entitled to attend 1 class per week only for four school terms, 2012

 

Scholarship Submission

  • Parents will need to complete an Scholarship Application Form and return with an application fee to Point Break Drama by no later than November, 2011. Exact date to be notified
  • The application fee is $40, which is non-refundable, but can be deducted from any Point Break Drama acting course in 2011.
  • All application forms to be returned with a $40 deposit (cheque or Money Order) by no later than 14th November 2011 to:

Audition Details

  • Applicants will be notified of a time, date and place for audition via email.Please provide an email address that is current.
  • All auditionees will be given a ten-minute slot. Applicants should check their email for all updates.
  • Applicants should prepare a 1- 2 min monologue that demonstrates their strengths. Monologues must not exceed the two-minute time limit. Choose something that is age specific.
  • Applicants will be asked to take direction and improvise a short scene on the day of the audition.
  • Parents will not be allowed in the audition room.

 

Scholarship Acceptance of Offer

  • Successful candidates will be sent a formal offer via email.
  • All Runner-ups will be notified via email also.
  • Successful Candidates will be notified by email.
  • The acceptance of this offer must be received by no later than Jan 15th, 2012.
  • Parents and students must read conditions section before committing.
  • Runner-ups will be offered a place at point Break Drama at a discounted rate for 2012 only. Runner-ups will have to February 10th, 2012 to accept offer.
