Point Break Drama is one of the most well-established performing arts schools in metropolitan Sydney. Situated in Dee why, Point Break has provided an acting school of high calibre to the Northern Beaches. The brainchild of Adam Stewart and Paul Winchester Point Break was set up to fill the huge void in acting and singing tuition on the Northern Beaches.

Point Break Drama offers part-time courses to teenagers, kids and adults. Adults can choose from three levels of Acting Basics or take a course in Acting for Camera. Youth drama runs twice weekly and concurrently with the school term and offers students an exciting array of performance styles. Kids Acting runs on Thursday afternoons.

Tutors Adam Stewart, Paul Winchester & Matt Charleston are professional actors who have all trained at major prestigious performing arts schools-Theatre Nepean, Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts & NIDA respectively.

MATT CHARLESTON

Originally from Tasmania where he spent several years performing in amateur theatre and Theatre Sports, Matt Charleston moved to Sydney and studied full time at NIDA, majoring in acting. He then continued his studies in Film and Television with Sandra Lee Patterson at On Camera Connections.

Matt has worked as a teacher and adjudicator for McDonald College of Performing Arts, and is currently teaching at Point Break Drama Acting School in Dee Why. In addition to acting, Matt has co- written, produced, and directed new work for companies including, Typically Red productions and Naked Heatwave.

Matt recently starred in a new Australian film called “ 2-DOOR MANSION”, which took out the honour of Best Feature Comedy at the Moondance International Film Festival in Hollywood, California.(2006) It also won Best Film at the Cologne International Film Festival in Germany. (2007) It was also official selection at the Australian International Film Festival and screened recently on Channel 9. Matt plays a lead role, “Ricky” in THE 7TH HUNT, a horror feature just completed.

Matt’s television credits include ALL SAINTS, WATER RATS, AUSTRALIANS AT WAR and more recently PACKED TO THE RAFTERS. He plays a lead role in a Pilot for television called ACTING OUT. Matt has appeared in commercials for Telstra, Thredbo, King Gee and recently for Lenovo where he played Libby Trickett’s trainer! He is currently working with a team of actors under director Kate Gaul, on a creative development of Lorca’s play BLOOD WEDDING.

For the past 12 years, Matt has been a practitioner of Aikido (in which he has attained a 3rd dan blackbelt), and Ki Development (chu den blackbelt) at the Shin Sen Dojo under Ken Mclean Sensei. He has also reached blackbelt (practitioner level) in Ki Shiatsu, the healing art. From an Acting point of view, the energetic (Ki) principles underlying these arts, (for example the unification of mind, body and spirit into every action) have formed a solid foundation for performance. A true understanding of energetic principles forms the basis for real presence, in life, and in acting.

ADAM STEWART
Bachelor of Arts (Performance)

Adam first appeared on the stage at the age of twelve as "The Fairy Godmother" in a production of Cinderella. His love for Acting took him all the way to one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in Sydney, Theatre Nepean(University of Western Sydney) where he graduated in 2001. While there he appeared in variety of plays including, "Anthony and Cleopatra", "Wounds To The Face", "Comedy of Errors", and "Don's Party".

Since leaving University, he has been seen in "Dogs" and the PACT theatre's "As You Like It". His short film Credits include "Sucked Up" and "Life's A Bitch" and has appeared in numerous television commercials around the world. Adam has worked as a teacher at the Newtown Arts factory as a guest specialist monologue tutor, and in private tutoring for 2yrs. In 2003 Adam appeared in African Gothic for the New Theatre/Old Fitzroy Hotel and Julius Caesar for Fly On the Wall Productions. Adam has directed several plays for Point Break Drama and has been an assistant director at the new theatre, Newtown.

Adams all time favourite movies are "Lawrence Of Arabia", "Fifth Element", and "Zardoz".

PAUL WINCHESTER
WAAPA Graduate Bachelor of Arts (Musical Theatre)

Paul Winchester is one of Australia’s rising talents. Paul has carved out an acting career from appearing in a number of Indie flicks and TV roles, & award winning short films.

Paul made his national television debut in the Australian drama series, "Bondi Banquet" for the S.B.S playing an Irish surfie. He showed potential and willingness to play against type in the land-mark independent film, "Gabriel" where he played a mute demon rapist. That same year he played a love-sick stalker in the award winning short film, "By the Book" (Showfest Audience award 2007). Once again Paul showed his dark side in the soon to be released feature film, "Submerged" playing a paranoid schizophrenic and in 2008 appeared in the popular television show, "All Saints" & "Packed to The Rafters". In 2009 Paul has been busy appearing in "Underbelly 2 ", and playing the lead in the action feature film, "Sweet Marshall" . Later on this year Paul will appear in "Home & Away" playing a widower.

Paul trained at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and has produced & appeared in a number of award winning short films with Point Break Drama & Roguy Films.

Paul Winchester was born in Northern Ireland to English parents and at just one year of age, was relocated to England where he began his schooling. Having just turned nine, Paul arrived in Perth, Australia where he did his high school and Drama School study. Finally he moved to Sydney when he was 22 where he now resides.
Paul first attended acting classes when he was twelve, where he played the Sheriff of Nottingham in the classic play, Robin Hood. In High School he became involved in the high-school circus where he learnt to juggle fire, unicycle and clown. One of Paul's first professional jobs was performing in a nightclub playing a clown at just 15 years old.

Paul became a regular member of the local Amateur theatre where be performed in plays and Musicals like "Mister Scrooge", "Annie", "Romeo and Juliet" and the "Browning Version". At the same time he starred in all high-school plays where he received the Most Promising Performer of the Year Award on two occasions. Paul made his Australian television debut at 17 in the teen drama, " A good Time Tonight". That same year Paul gained entry into the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts where he would study for the following three years.

Upon moving to Sydney Paul worked in theatre, short film and television. Paul became the co-director of the Point Break Drama Acting School in 2002. The director of "Gabriel", Shane abbess first cast Paul in a short film called "Sunday Drivers" shot for the 15 by 15 short film festival.
